fuel to the rabid artist

Okay, so here's the thing. The totally awesome beyond awesome :iconwraithten: donated a subscription to me out of the goodness of her saintly heart. (See, she's sweet without the phaser. ;)) This was a feature that I never actively pursued, not knowing what I was missing until I had one. And now . . . Gosh darnit DA! You're sucking hours of my life away. Again. I thought that I had gotten over this phase - I did.

I feel as if I am a sad, pathetic excuse for a human being sometimes . . .

Anyway, in accordance to Tory's madly diabolical plot, I have decided that my first act as she-who-has-the-almighty-sub will be to pimp the artwork of my RL best buds, pals, and those made of WIN and other equally awesome things. :giggle:

:excited:

Excited? :)

Yep. So am I. :boogie:

Featuring those important BFF people

1. :iconthe-blonde-vortex:

First up (due to those pesky blood ties requiring that she go first, lest unspeakable things happen ;)) is the-Blonde-Vortex. She is a young artist, and yet one who's style is already as unique and recognizable as any Dali or Picasso (minus the morbid melting clocks and the misplaced anatomy . . . for the most part, anyway). Her artwork holds a bold and pervasive style that is not afraid of neither color or form, all the while managing to hold an atmosphere that is both mystic and touching every single time.

. . . just don't expect her to use spellcheck in any of her correspondences with you, and you'll get along well.

*

2.:iconchimaera-stormhawk:

Second up (but not nearly second-best :tighthug:) is Chim. Chim has been with me through those pesky middle school years, and those even peskier high school years, and has seen my art in a youthful form that few have witnessed and lived. Hers is a style that perfectly utilizes her sharp wit and her sardonic(who are we kidding here - sarcastic) nature. Her comics and spoofs are guaranteed to get a laugh out of you, and her being a geek-comrade-in-arms guarantees numerous fangirl moments within her galleries.

. . . just beware of snark, and you'll do just fine. :giggle:

*

3. :iconwraithten:

Third is Tory. The queen of motivation (sheesh woman, but your phaser gets a work-out with me, you know?) and my sister in Squees (seriously, us and Trek is a dangerous combination. We scare people.)! She is an artist that works harder at her trade than probably any other I know, and her skills and mediums of choice are as wide as they are varied. Digital, traditional, fandom-pieces and originals. There's nothing that this gal can't do.

. . . just be careful, she has rabid gizkas and she's not afraid to use them. They tend to be more violent in defense of owners that will not eat them. :giggle:

*

4. :iconnymphetamine08: and :icondalucacryptrule:

And there is always Sam and Sam. We've had some crazy times from Tolbet's class to Peterson's (blasting Phantom and Nightwish on Sam's walkman, and fighting with giant 3D clowns :giggle:). Sam - with her giant Ayami Kojima-inspired collars, and dark sense of creativity and character style. And Sam - with her ethereal fairies, and her creative view for photography. You both were inspiration through many an interesting class. :hugs:

She Lives!

Sat Sep 19, 2009, 1:31 PM
So, I know that I have been irregular on DA the last year or so . . . at best. And then, I looked at my journal, and realized that I haven't updated it since 2007. :jawdrop:

. . . That is a new level of laziness, even for me. I could plead RL, and I could even plead a severe bout of apathy when it came to this site, but seriously. That was bad.

So, this is a quick note to say that I'm working on some things - lots of things. My galleries will be under construction for a while, but when I'm done I hope you like what you see.

To anyone who still bothers to watch me . . . thanks! You guys are the best, really. ;) :glomp:

Between Tags and Novels

Sat Oct 27, 2007, 9:12 AM
Hello, everyone. It's really about time that I updated my journal, and then I was tagged, causing me to have to forcibly update. ;P
So, here's the rather goofy little quiz :

[X] Gum has fallen out of your mouth when you were talking.

[] Gum has fallen out of your mouth when you were NOT talking.

[X] You have run into a glass/screen door.

[] You have jumped out/off of a moving vehicle.

[X] You have thought of something funny and laughed out loud, then people gave you weird looks.

[] You have run into a tree.

[] It is possible to lick your elbow

[X] You just tried to lick your elbow.

[] You never knew that the Alphabet and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star have the same rhythm.

[X] You just tried to sing them.

[X] You have tripped on your shoelace and fallen.

[] You have choked on your own spit.

[X] You have seen the the Matrix and still don't get it. (didn't see it)

[X] You didn't notice that in the last question "the" was spelled twice.

[X] You just looked at it.

[X] Your hair is blonde/dirty blonde.

[] People have called you slow.

[] You have accidentally caught something on fire.

[X] You tried to drink out of a straw, but it went into your nose/eyes. (That's what happens when you drink too much Mountain Dew)

[] You have caught yourself drooling.

[] You've fallen asleep in class.

[] If someone says "fart" you laugh.

[X] Sometimes you just stop thinking.

[X] You are telling a story and forget what you were talking about.

[] People shake their heads and walk away from you.

[] You are often told to use your "inside voice."

[X] You use your fingers to do simple math.

[] You have eaten a bug.

[X] You are taking this test when you should be doing something important.

[X] You have put your clothes on backwards or inside out, and didn't realize it.

[X] You've looked all over for something and realized it was in your hand, hair or pocket.

[] You sometimes post bulletins because you are scared that what they say will happen to you if you don't even when you know it won't happen to you.

[X] You break a lot of things.

[] Your friends know not to use big words around you

[X] You sometimes tilt your head when you're confused.

[x] You have fallen out of your chair before.

[x] When you're laying in bed, you try to find pictures in the texture of the ceiling

[X] The word "umm" is used many times a day.

So, that was it - it makes you realize a few things about yourself. I pity the poor fool who gets this next. ;P

On another note, November is here and with it it brings NaNoWriMo! :boogie:

And this year I've decided to become a willing victim, er, participant.

NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month - the goal is 50,000 words in between November first and November 30. That's a lot of writing, a whole novel to be precise. So, if I'm absent from deviant for a while, that is why. I think my muse is just going to collapse after this.

If anyone else is interested in NaNo, you can check it out here. [link]

The project was to do a plaster cast with gauze strips - not an easy task. Being wide eyed noobs with plaster, we chose to cast a raggity anne doll - not a wise choice, I wouldn't recommend it. The surface was unstable, and gave too much. It took a week of plastering and replastering, and plastering, and sanding, and nail biting to actually get the form right. At one point we had two arms, two legs, a head that was split down the middle and a pile of clothe for the torso - all in separate pieces, might I add.
Anyway, I guess that artists are stubborn, for we finally prevailed.

Caught Kiriban!

Fri Jul 20, 2007, 4:07 PM
Hello!

My Kiriban was caught by :iconiryla:

Congrats! And I'll have your picture done soon. :glomp:

For some more exciting news, this weekend I have work displayed in the Ann Arbor Art Fair! The last three weeks I took an art class at the community college and we were invited to run a booth at the fair. I've actually sold a few things, even though we've been at the booth through pouring rain and really humid heat.

It seems there's never good weather for art fairs. :D

I hope everyone's doing good, and I'll have some more art for you soon! I just have to crash a friend's scanner first. ;P

Kiriban

Sun Jul 1, 2007, 8:00 AM
Hello everyone! I'm coming up on 2000 hits, and I've never done a kiriban.

So, I'm happy to announce that I've decided to do a kiriban for 2,000 hits! :boogie:

What does this mean? This means that whoever gets the two thousandth hit, I will do a drawing of your request. Just take a screen shot of the page, note me with it, and I will get to work on whatever it is that you want.

Have fun with this, and nothing too scary please. ^^;
